Figures

Paintings of subjects that are not commissioned are an important part of Larsson’s oeuvre. They have been exhibited extensively in galleries and at retrospective exhibitions and are part of collections in Europe and in the USA.

A number of these are tronies - life-size studies of heads painted from life. Tronies have a very significant role in the history of Western art. Not only do they enable the painter to study different aspects of character and expression, but they also are an essential way for contemporary artists to link to the great tradition of oil painting. Others are larger works that explore different themes, always focusing on the human expression and psychology. All these figure paintings are painted from life and with few exceptions are life-size.

Seen below is a selection of his figure paintings. If you wish to receive a complete list with available works and prices, please send us an email. All paintings are sold including a handmade frame from Florence, Italy.
